TOUR PROGRAM
1-day trip to Plovdiv with guide and lunch with wine tasting

After breakfast, around 9 o'clock, at your hotel in Sofia our guide will meet you at the Reception desk for a pleasant and comfortable 1.5 hours drive to the city of
Plovdiv. On the way you will learn the history of this ancient settlement. After arriving at the Old Plovdiv, you will be able to enter and walk around through the narrow cobblestone streets and feel the 19th century atmosphere. Climbing up the rock stairs we will reach the top - the remains of the 2nd century Ancient Roman Amphitheatre. It is a really unforgettable experience if you are lucky to see one of the many theatrical or musical performances that are still presented on this antique stage. The Ethnographic museum is well worth the visit too (entrance fee included in the price).
Along this tour you will also see landmarks remaining from the time of Ottoman rule: the Imaret Mosque (1444-45), now a branch of the Archaeological Museum; Djumaya Mosque dating from the same period and the Bell Tower, one of Europe's oldest ones and mentioned in a 1633 travelogue.
Bulgarian dishes for lunch together with regional wine tasting

At lunchtime, we will go to a typical Bulgarian restaurant for a tasty meal of Bulgarian dishes. "Tikvichki s kisselo mljako" Small pumpkins in yoghurt is one of the many lunch options. But before that you will have the chance to taste and buy locally produced wines, honey, pottery, brass and wood-carved items and other souvenirs sold in the small shops in the Old Town.
After lunch at around 15:00 hours, we'll leave the sight to drive back for 1.5 hours to Sofia and arrive at the hotel at around 14:30 h.

TESTIMONIALS:
"George
I just wanted to write and tell you how much we enjoyed our time in Bulgaria. The tours were great, but even better was meeting you and Antoinette and spending time conversing. Thanks so much for helping us learn about your country and to see a bit of it.
If you ever need someone as a reference for someone thinking about booking a tour, but perhaps hesitating a bit, please feel free to direct them to me."
